Blue sulfur lake
About Novaa V
This artwork is based on a natural phenomenon in Java, Indonesia. The Ijen volcano complex is a group of composite volcanoes located on the border between the Banyuwangi Regency and Bondowoso Regency of East Java, Indonesia. It is known for its blue fire, acidic crater lake, and labor-intensive sulfur mining
at the Kawah Ijen volcano in Java, bright blue flames bubble up at night. The color comes from sulfur, which ignites in contact with air. The flames can grow up to 1.5 meters high. The molten sulfur drips down the stones.
